Missouri Car Window Tint Law

Window Tint Darkness is measure by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). By Missouri Law, the VLT% of window tint refers to the percentage of visible light allowed through both the film and the window.

Missouri Car Window Tint Law allows for different levels of VLT% for each window location within the car.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along top, above the manufacturer's AS-1 line
Front Side Windows Required to allow more than 35% of light through
Back Side Windows Any window tint darkness can be applied
Rear Window Any window tint darkness can be applied

Like many sunglass lenses, car window tinting films can contain metalized elements to reduce glare and heat from direct visible light. The Missouri Car Window Tint Law regulates the reflective qualities of car window tint as well.

Front Side Windows Cannot be more than 35% reflective
